Letโ€™s get to know each other.

Hello! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป My name is Holly Ragsdale.

And yes, you guessed it โ€” my middle name is Violet. I was born and raised in Seattle as the youngest of four. My passion for writing began at a very young age; in fact, my second-grade teacher told my parents I would become a writer some day โ€” and she was absolutely right.

After high school, I made my way to a small town in Arkansas to attend Harding University, where I received a public relations degree (and had way too many part-time jobs to count). After graduation, I moved with my now-husband to Denver, where we lived for two years. During that time, we got married, we got a dog, and I started my first real job out of college at a real estate technology company called booj, which was acquired by RE/MAXยฎ in 2018. At booj, I helped launch a new program called booj Digital. Over the course of six years, I wrote community-focused blog content and managed social media for a number of real estate companies across the country, from Portland, Oregon to Fort Collins, Colorado. I eventually became the content team lead; in addition to my writing workload, I edited the work of other writers and helped manage the content calendar for all clients.

After six years at booj, honing my writing skills and learning more about the real estate industry, I launched Holly Violet Creative to reach a variety of clients and cover a wide range of topics. I specialize in both real estate and tourism to encompass my experience writing about โ€œthings to do in [an area]โ€, similar to what you might see on a Visit [City] site. At Holly Violet Creative, I help people fall in love with where they are and where theyโ€™re going.

Holly Violet Creative is all about local.

At Holly Violet Creative, I write community-focused content for real estate and tourism blogs. Whether someone is looking to move to an area, has recently moved there, or is just passing through, they will be searching for things to do, restaurants and shops to visit, and other helpful information about the area. So when they search, you want to be their local resource for navigating the ins and outs of living in or visiting your city. Over time, youโ€™ll position yourself as the expert of all things local in your region.

Topics I specialize include:
๐Ÿป๐Ÿ” Bars + Restaurants
๐Ÿšฉ๐ŸŽถ Events
๐Ÿ›‹๐Ÿช‘ Home Inspiration
๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿ› Local Businesses
๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿšฒ Neighborhood Guides
๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ›ถ Outdoor Recreation
๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ”‘ Property Spotlights
โœˆ๏ธ๐Ÿงณ Travel

...And more! The sky's the limit in the worlds of real estate and tourism. And I have six years of experience writing for real estate companies, so I know a thing or two about the industry.

I live in Nashville, Tennessee.

I now live in Nashville, Tennessee with my husband and our six-year-old black labradoodle, Olive. Over the last several years, we have lived a minimalist lifestyle, which I post about on my personal Instagram page and write about on my personal blog called Lessen that covers minimalism in three forms: physical, mental and spiritual. When Iโ€™m not writing, you can find me out in the garden digging in the dirt, brewing and drinking pretentious coffee, shopping at a local thrift store, reading non-fiction books, walking or running around the neighborhood, or going to restaurants and breweries with friends.

Meet my assistant, Olive.

Olive was born and raised in the real estate marketing world. In fact, she spent her very first weeks of life under my desk at the booj office, learning the tricks of the trade and networking with other office dogs. Olive started her career as an entry-level assistant and has evolved into top-tier talent, motivated by head scratches and bacon-flavored treats. She handles all admin-related tasks for Holly Violet Creative, including answering emails, managing the books, and filing taxes, in addition to fetching coffee and snacks for me while Iโ€™m busy writing. But most importantly, Olive alerts me to any mailmen, squirrels and other potential threats. In her free time, Olive enjoys long walks in the neighborhood, playing fetch in the backyard, napping on the couch, and chasing squirrels everywhere.
